Machining parts on demand for our customers is a critical part of our business. All our work is designed and built to order. Machining is a foundation on which this business will grow, and it needs people who are precise, confident, and driven to make it a reality.

Understanding engineering drawings is critical to produce quality parts. NCC engineering releases drawings which include 2D orthographic projection. Fitment of parts to form the mechanical assembly must be thought out ahead in some applications to stay ahead of the game and eliminate any rework. Machinists bring the engineer’s designs to life.

 

Key Roles / Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Proper setup of CNC lathe to fabricate parts, inclusive of programming CNC with instructions, offsets, reference points and other calculations to create the desired parts.
  • Accurately read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings to ensure proper setup requirements, sequence of operations, dimensions, and tolerance levels of finished product.
  • Inspection of finished parts for quality and accuracy. If part does not pass inspection, identify, and report the problem. Work with Fabrication Team Leader to find a solution.
  • Oversee machine maintenance and perform machine’s preventative maintenance as required.
  • Follow good manufacturing practices for safety and ergonomics.
  • Keep individual work area clean and neat.
  • Work efficiently to complete work within budgeted time.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement projects and generates ideas in the department.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently to perform given tasks.
  • Collaborates well in a team environment. Demonstrates great teamwork skills and is flexible with changing demands in the workplace.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience machining with 3+ years of mill-turn machining.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and engineering drawings with knowledge of geometric tolerancing.
  • Proficient in G-Code, HAAS/Fanuc controls.
  • Solidcam, solidworks cam experience ideal but not necessary.
  • Manual Dexterity and Must be Able to Lift 50 lbs.
