NCC Automated Systems Inc. / History

NCC was started in 1986 as a specialty conveyor manufacturer servicing mainly Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Delaware.  We quickly grew our organization and over the next few years expanded as a national supplier of quality custom conveying equipment.

In the 1990's NCC formed major alliances with manufacturers of pre-engineered conveying equipment including Ermanco, Arrowhead, FlexLink, QC Industries, and Omni Conveyors winning national awards with several vendors for sales growth, volume and other capabilities.  These relationships have continued and in 2002 NCC also became a system integrator for Bosch with the VarioFlow product line.  Bosch VarioFlow was a natural evolution from our 15 year experience as one of the top producing FlexLink system integrators.  NCC has consistently been a top performer with the Bosch VarioFlow product line earning the highest volume award several years running.

In the 1990's one of NCC's many experiences was in the field of robotics, particularly in packaging.  In this era, NCC was featured on the cover of Packaging Digest and US Industry Today as a leading automation integrator.

In the 2000's NCC grew into supplying Complete Integrated Packaging Lines.  We now offer engineering and project management capabilities to select and supply primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging equipment .  This provides product manufacturers with complete systems integrated fully by a single supplier.  NCC not only designs and supplies these systems but will commission the Line with our team of professionals.

NCC on the cover of Packaging Digest

•Cabot Creamery Cooperative finds flexible robotic solution to replace manual palletizing of multipacks and cases of cultured products. New system reduces labor expenses, meets Cabot's aggressive production requirements and eliminates a difficult job for operators.

•Installed in October, 2001, the ABB FlexPalletizer 4.0 robotic palletizing cell from systems integrator NCC Automated Systems, a subsidiary of LineSource, Inc., offers udder flexibility. Automating the palletization of two different package types from two lines simultaneously, the solution has allowed Cabot to meet its production requirements, while decreasing its labor costs and protecting its operators from repetitive stress injuries.

•These problems, along with a need for increased production on these lines, led Cabot to move the lines to a different area of the plant, where palletizing would be performed in a 30-deg-F environment, and to consider a robotic palletizing solution.

•However, he recalls, many of the systems integrators contacted for the project declined to submit proposals, stating that the production requirements, the facility's space restraints, the diversity of product sizes and the use of two packaging types presented too great a challenge.

•While we were impressed with NCC's design and robotic palletizing experience, since this was our first robotic installation, we were cautious," he adds. "To alleviate our concerns, NCC arranged for an ABB representative to visit us and review the proposed solution. That meeting not only reassured us that the FlexPalletizer would meet our production requirements, but it also provided us with further validation of NCC's strong strategic partnership with ABB. As discussions evolved, NCC's expertise in packaging, robotics and systems integration became apparent."
